* Cotton output for 2025-26 season estimated between 312 and 335 lakh bales
* New crop arrivals increasing, daily arrivals over 1 lakh bales
* Raw cotton prices below minimum support price on weak demand
* Carry-forward stocks expected at 60.59 lakh bales, up from 39.19 lakh last year
* Gujarat and Maharashtra likely to report higher yields; crop in good condition
India’s cotton production for the 2025-26 season, beginning in October, is projected between 312 and 335 lakh bales of 170 kg each, despite reduced area and concerns over excess rainfall in some regions. New crop arrivals have picked up, with daily arrivals exceeding 1 lakh bales, though prices remain below the minimum support level due to weak demand. Carry-forward stocks are estimated at 60.59 lakh bales, significantly higher than last year’s 39.19 lakh, supported by higher imports. Crop conditions across all 10 major cotton-growing states are reported as good, with Gujarat and Maharashtra expected to deliver higher yields. Official estimates will be released in late October.
