Daily Market Update - 13th August 2026 by Ventura Securities Ltd

Market Outlook:

Indian equity markets witnessed a mixed trading session amid cautious global cues, elevated crude oil prices and profit booking across select sectors. While domestic liquidity continues to provide support, near-term market movement is expected to remain range-bound with stock-specific action driven by earnings delivery, sectoral outlook and institutional flows. Investors are closely tracking inflation trends, global interest rate expectations and corporate earnings momentum for further market direction.

FII and DII Activity:

Institutional flows remained divergent, with foreign investors turning selective while domestic institutions continued to provide stability to the market. FIIs recorded net selling of ?1,002.5 crore on 12 August, whereas DIIs remained strong buyers with net inflows of ?5,841.7 crore, highlighting continued domestic support despite foreign fund volatility.

Sector Activity:

Sectoral performance remained mixed, with strength seen in select industrials, healthcare and technology stocks, while consumer and financial segments witnessed pressure due to concerns around crude prices and valuation comfort. Recent foreign flows have shown improving interest in sectors such as IT, consumer durables and healthcare, indicating selective accumulation rather than broad-based buying.

F&O Activity:

Derivative data indicated selective accumulation across stocks, with Long positions building up in sectors witnessing positive price momentum, while Short Covering was observed in select beaten-down counters. Conversely, Long Unwinding and Short Formation remained visible in stocks facing profit booking and weaker sectoral cues. Overall, F&O positioning suggests a stock-specific approach with traders balancing fresh longs against elevated volatility.
