"The RBI has turned down Tata Sons' request to stay unlisted, and this has now collided with a boardroom fight over Chandrasekaran's reappointment. Tata Trusts, the largest shareholder, calls the reappointment invalid and is against a listing. That's a governance risk, not just a compliance issue, and markets don't like uncertainty at the top of a group structure. This is why Tata stocks lost close to $4 billion in value in one session - investors are pricing in headline risk, not business fundamentals. Tata Group has always traded at a premium because of its reputation for stable, clean governance. If this standoff drags on, that premium is at risk, and we could see continued volatility in group stocks until there's clarity on both the leadership question and the listing timeline."
