Daily Market Update - 18th September 2026 - Ventura Securities Ltd
Market Outlook: Indian markets are likely to open marginally positive, with Gift Nifty gaining 0.15% (+36 points), supported by positive global cues. US markets ended higher in the previous session, with the S&P 500 rising 1.14%, Dow Jones gaining 0.61% and Nasdaq 100 advancing 1.73%. Domestic markets closed positive, with Nifty 50 rising 0.23%, while broader markets witnessed strong participation with NSE advance-decline at 2,480:1,485 and BSE at 2,626:1,712. Options data indicates Nifty Call OI concentration at 24,500 and Put OI concentration at 22,000, with PCR at 0.99, while Sensex Call OI peaked at 74,500 and Put OI at 74,300 with PCR at 0.93.
FII & DII Activity: Institutional flows remained mixed, with FIIs/FPI turning net sellers of Rs 3,208.8 crore on 17th September, while DIIs remained net buyers with inflows of Rs 3,617.8 crore. Domestic institutional participation continued to provide support despite sustained foreign selling pressure.
Sector Activity: Sectoral performance remained broadly positive, led by Pharma (+1.66%), Healthcare (+1.56%), Manufacturing (+1.35%), Auto (+0.99%), Metals (+0.94%) and PSE (+0.63%). Financials remained mixed, with Private Banks declining 0.42% and PSU Banks declining 0.16%, while Oil & Gas was marginally lower by 0.14%.
F&O Activity: Long build-up was witnessed in TECHM, TATAELXSI, BANKINDIA, TATASTEEL and HCLTECH, indicating fresh long positions. Short build-up was observed in POLICYBZR, PNBHOUSING, MAZDOCK, ATHERENERG and COLPAL. Long unwinding was seen in PAYTM, RADICO, OIL, POWERGRID and PATANJALI, while short covering emerged in ICICIPRULI, FORCEMOT, SBILIFE, ABCAPITAL and HDFCLIFE
