Market Outlook: Indian markets closed strongly on 6th October, with the Nifty 50 rising 0.98% to 22,776 and the Sensex gaining 0.95% to 73,068. The positive momentum was supported by broad-based participation, with 2,453 advances against 1,125 declines on NSE, while Midcap and Smallcap indices gained 1.08% and 1.41%, respectively. Global cues remain supportive as the S&P 500, Dow Jones and Nasdaq 100 gained 0.58%, 0.49% and 0.48%, respectively, while Gift Nifty is indicating a positive opening at 22,800, up 0.11%. India VIX declined 8.26% to 14, indicating lower near-term volatility. The key domestic trigger today is the RBI MPC decision at 10 AM, with markets largely pricing in a 25-bps hike; the stance and inflation guidance will be more important for market direction. Nifty OI is concentrated at 22,700 Calls and 22,800 Puts, with PCR at 1.12.

FII & DII Activity: Foreign investors remained net sellers on 6th October, selling Rs 2,961 crore, while domestic institutions bought Rs 5,089 crore. This takes October FII outflows to approximately Rs 17,145 crore in three sessions, while DII purchases have reached Rs 20,312 crore. Strong DII buying continues to provide a cushion to the market and is currently absorbing a significant portion of foreign selling. However, sustained FII outflows, the weaker rupee at Rs 96.42/$ and elevated crude prices remain key risks for market liquidity and valuations.

Sector Activity: Sectoral performance remained broadly positive, led by Nifty Chemicals (+1.98%), Pharma (+1.66%), Oil & Gas (+1.57%), Private Banks (+1.41%), FMCG (+1.40%), India Manufacturing (+1.33%) and Consumer (+1.19%). Financial Services gained 1.17%, Healthcare 1.04%, Energy 0.87% and Metals 0.82%. Auto and Consumer Durables rose 0.47% and 0.73%, respectively. IT was the key laggard, declining 0.59%, while PSU Banks slipped 0.08%. The strongest individual sector drivers included Deepak Fertilisers (+6.65%) and Deepak Nitrite (+4.01%) in Chemicals, Wockhardt Pharma (+5.35%) and Laurus Labs (+3.99%) in Pharma, and Kotak Bank (+3.82%) and IndusInd Bank (+2.20%) in Banks.
