Market Update – Sectoral Trends, Institutional Flows & Key Corporate Highlights – 12th June 2026

Market Outlook:

Markets are expected to open positively following a strong US session on 11th June 2026, with S&P 500 +1.19%, Dow Jones +1.51%, and Nasdaq +2.23%. Gift Nifty grew 0.4% (+93.5 pts), indicating positive domestic momentum. Advance-decline ratio on NSE was 1013:2255 and on BSE 1279:2928, showing weakness in overall market breadth. Nifty Auto declined -0.17% with Tube Investments of India Ltd. (-2.8%) and Ashok Leyland Ltd. (-2.84%). Nifty FMCG fell -0.89% due to Emami Ltd. (-2.1%) and Godrej Consumer Products Ltd. (-2.13%). Nifty Realty declined -0.64% led by The Phoenix Mills Ltd. (-1.9%) and Sobha Ltd. (-1.86%). Nifty Oil & Gas dropped -0.22% with Chennai Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (-3.7%) and HPCL (-3.7%). Nifty PSU Bank fell -0.89% with Indian Overseas Bank (-2.5%) and UCO Bank (-2.53%), while Nifty Chemicals gained +0.69% led by Himadri Speciality Chemical Ltd. (+6.7%) and Coromandel International Ltd. (+1.92%) .


FII and DII Activity:

Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net sellers of ?1,987 crore, whereas Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) were net buyers of ?4,225 crore. Derivative data shows Sensex max call OI at 73,900, max put OI at 73,800 (PCR 1.01), Nifty max call OI 23,500, max put OI 23,000 (PCR 0.92), and Bank Nifty max call/put OI at 55,000 (PCR 0.97), indicating cautious positioning and hedging by institutions .


Sector Activity:
 

Sectoral performance was mixed. Nifty IT fell -1.6% led by HCL Technologies Ltd. (-1.93%) and Infosys Ltd. (-2.68%). Nifty Pharma rose +0.6% with Torrent Pharma Ltd. (+2.43%). Nifty Fin Services (-0.2%) and Nifty FMCG (-0.9%) showed selective weakness. Nifty Auto declined -0.2%, whereas Nifty Chemicals (+0.69%) and Nifty PSU Bank (-0.9%) showed relative strength. Top gainers included ICICI Bank Ltd. (+1.83%), M&M Ltd. (+1.64%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (+1.35%), JSW Steel Ltd. (+0.98%), and Grasim Industries Ltd. (+0.60%) while top losers were Infosys Ltd., HCL Technologies, Eternal Ltd., Adani Ports Ltd., and Trent Ltd. .


Long, Short, Long Unwinding and Short Covering:

Derivative positioning remained stock-specific. Long build-up: MPHASIS (+5.8%), TECHM (+2.3%), ALKEM (+1.7%), TATACONSUM (+5.8%), NAUKRI (+1.0%). Short build-up: NAM-INDIA (+14.0%), GVT&D (+8.9%), LTF (+7.6%), MUTHOOTFIN (+6.2%), DIVISLAB (+5.7%). Long unwinding: PATANJAL (-7.4%), HDFCAMC (-5.7%), TIINDIA (-4.8%), PNBHOUSING (-3.7%), JSWENERGY (-3.7%). Short covering: SUNPHARMA (-5.7%), POWERGRID (-2.6%), GAIL (-2.4%), POWERINDIA (-1.4%) .
