PL Asset Management Launches its first Performing Credit Fund with a target size of INR 500 crore

PL Capital – Prabhudas Lilladher Group’s Alternative Investment Management company has launched its first Alternative Investment Fund (AIF) – the PL Capital Performing Credit Fund, a Category II AIF. Designed to deliver capital protection and superior risk-adjusted returns, the fund offers structured private credit solutions to India’s mid-market corporates driving the next phase of India’s economic engine.
Focusing on secured debt investments in both listed and unlisted companies across diverse sectors (excluding real estate), the fund has a target size of INR 500 crore and a greenshoe of INR 500 crore. He is also a Non-Exec Chairman of BharatPe and a Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers.
Dr. Punita Kumar-Sinha, a CFA charterholder and PhD, is also a part of the investment committee. With a strong track record in managing large India-focused funds from the US, she currently serves as an Independent Director at Embassy REIT, Lupin, Marelli, and other companies. Previously, she held senior leadership positions at Blackstone and was an Independent Director at Infosys and JSW Steel.
Mr. Nilesh Vikamsey, President of the West India Council of the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce and an Independent Director at PNB Housing Finance Limited, Nippon Life India Trustee Limited (Chairman), Federal Bank, SBI Cards and Allcargo
Logistics Limited, brings extensive experience in audits, due diligence, and regulatory work with SEBI, RBI, NSE, and BSE. He is also a valuable member of the investment committee.
The investment committee also includes Mr. Abizer Diwanji, Founder – NeoStrat Advisors. He was the former Head of Practice at prestigious consulting firms such as KPMG, EY and spearheaded multiple M&A and insolvency transactions in public domain. With 35+ years of experience, he has also been a part of various committees on structural reform with the RBI and Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
The Advisory Board comprises two seasoned professionals: Mr. Ashok Barat, a Fellow of ICAI and ICSI, former Managing Director and CEO of Forbes & Company Limited, and current board member at Bata India, JSW Paints, Everest Industries, Aarti Industries; and Mr. Rajesh Narain Gupta, Founder and Chairman of SNG & Partners, a legal expert with over 35 years of experience, who has been instrumental in shaping legal frameworks of stressed assets in India and is an Independent Director on multiple boards, including HDFC Capital Advisors and J.C. Flowers Asset Reconstruction.
The fund is managed and spearheaded by a highly experienced management team. Samir Satyam, Director, brings over 25 years of experience in investments and lending across promoter financing, special situations funding and alternative investments. His impressive track record includes roles such as Investment Director at Edelweiss Alternative Asset Advisors Ltd. He has also previously held senior leadership roles such as Head - Structured Finance at Hero Fincorp Ltd and Business Head - Capital Market Lending at Bajaj Finance Ltd, Cholamandalam DBS Finance among others.
Samir is joined by Kapil Sachdeva, Credit Head, who brings 20+ years of experience in Credit and Risk management, Structured financing, Portfolio management & Resolution and Credit Ratings. In the past, he has led the Credit Risk Underwriting and Portfolio management positions at Edelweiss, TFCI, Axis Bank and worked with CARE Ratings and Moody’s providing credit coverage for debt/fixed income space.
