Indian Bank aims to disburse over Rs 20,000 crores to SHGs nationwide in FY 2026

As part of a pan-India initiative by the Department of Financial Services (DFS), Government of India, the programme marks Indian Bank’s contribution to the national mission of empowering one crore SHG women with credit access. The event also aligns with the Government's focus on "Viksit Bharat 2047", aiming for inclusive growth and women-led development.

The event was graced by Shri M. Nagaraju, I.A.S. , Hon’ble Secretary, Department of Financial Services, Government of India, Shri Binod Kumar, Managing Director & CEO, and Shri Mahesh Kumar Bajaj, Executive Director, Indian Bank.

 

A total of 9961 Self Help Groups received sanction letters amounting to Rs. 509.91 crores, providing timely and transformative financial support to grassroots women entrepreneurs. The event also featured moving success stories from SHG members and a showcase of SHG-led enterprises across diverse sectors such as handicrafts, agri-processing and textiles.

 

This initiative is a part of Indian Bank’s broader strategy to disburse over Rs. 20000 crores to SHGs nationwide in FY 2026, positioning itself as a key driver of India’s economic engine.

Chief Guest in his concluding remarks said “This movement is not just about credit or livelihood: it’s about dignity, empowerment, and transformation. It is about women becoming leaders, communities becoming self-reliant, and a nation moving forward from the grassroots. Let us continue to support and celebrate these extraordinary women who are not just beneficiaries of schemes, but architects of a better India.”
