After Rohit, Virat Kohli retires from test cricket after 14 years, pens emotional message on Instagram

After Rohit Sharma, India’s jersey no 18 Virat Kohli announced his retirement from Test Cricket on May 12. This marks the end of an illustrious 14-year career in which he dominated against top opponents in whites, both as a batter and as a captain. Kohli took to his Instagram handle and announced his decision to retire from the longest format of the game with an emotional message. In his Test career, Kohli played 123 matches, scoring 9,230 runs at an average of 46.85, with 30 centuries, 31 fifties, and a top score of 254. He is India's fourth-highest run-getter in the format, behind Tendulkar (15,921 runs), Dravid (13,265 runs) and Gavaskar (10,122 runs). He scored just 382 runs in 10 Test matches last year at an average of 22.47, with only one century and a fifty. His final Test series was the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, where he managed 190 runs in 9 innings, with a century in Perth. Virat’s career has been about overcoming several setbacks and taking Indian cricket to new highs.
