Sebi slaps Rs 1.5 cr fine on Karvy Computershare in Taurus Mutual Fund case

Sebi on Wednesday imposed a penalty of Rs 1.5 crore on Karvy Computershare (presently known as KFin Technologies) for redeeming its units in Taurus Mutual Fund on the basis of privileged information, pertaining to Ballarpur Industries default, available to it as RTA. By redeeming all units in Taurus Liquid Fund and Taurus Ultra Short Term Bond Fund in February 2017, Karvy Computershare made unlawful gain of about Rs 1.2 crore, Sebi said in an order. In a statement, KFin Technologies said the company will examine the order of Sebi and decide the further course of action.

 

Ashok Leyland announces new truck that has load flexibility, saves costs

Ashok Leyland, India’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturer, on Thursday launched a new truck called AVTR 3120. The launch of the three-axle 6x2 Dual Tyre Lift Axle (DTLA) truck makes Ashok Leyland the first and only player in the country to have a full range of dual tyre lift axle (DTLA) truck range: having 31T, 40.5T, and 47.5T GVW nodes, said the company.

 

IIFL Fintech Fund to invest Rs 300 cr in early-stage fintech startups

Fairfax-backed IIFL Group on Thursday said IIFL Fintech Fund is planning to invest Rs 300 crore in early-stage Indian fintech start-ups in the next two years. The move is aimed at facilitating the creation of affordable products and technologies that aid financial inclusion, a statement said.

 

G E Shipping surges 9% on share buyback plan, board meet on December 27

Shares of Great Eastern Shipping surged 9 per cent to Rs 299.85 on the BSE in Thursday’s intra-day trade after the company announced its plan for share buyback. The company said its board of directors are scheduled to meet on Monday December 27, 2021 to consider and approve a proposal for buyback of equity shares of the company. The stock of shipping company has corrected 42 per cent from its 52-week high level of Rs 477 touched on June 16, 2021, till Wednesday. It had hit a 52-week low of Rs 229 on January 29, 2021.

 

Apple to launch Intel-powered Macs in future, says report

Despite the undeniable success of the M1 Max and M1 Pro chips, a new report has suggested that Apple still has one last Intel-powered Mac in its pipeline, which is expected to launch next year. According to MacRumors, for Intel-based Mac Pro, one can expect the desktop to feature Intel's Xeon Scalable processor, which Intel says has "advanced performance, security, efficiency, and built-in AI acceleration to handle IoT workloads and more powerful AI."

 

Macrotech ties up with Morgan Stanley to build warehousing project

Realty firm Macrotech Developers on Thursday said it has partnered with Morgan Stanley Real Estate Investing (MSREI) to develop a premium warehousing project near Mumbai with an investment of Rs 600 crore.
