Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) have turned net buyer during last week purchasing Rs 46.7 bn based on provisional exchange data. Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) were net buyers, purchasing Rs82.8 bn. Mutual fund Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) contributions reached a three-month high of Rs 317.8 bn in June 2026, according to the latest data released by the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI). This reflects a steady 2.7% month-on-month increase compared to Rs 309.5 bn in May 2026, alongside a 16.5% jump from the Rs 272.7 bn recorded in June 2025.
Benchmark Indices snapped it's four-week winning streak as it traded with high volatility and closed marginally lower during last week. Nifty started the week on a positive note and rallied to form an intra-week high of 24,530 on Tuesday’s session. However sharp decline during the midweek on account of renewed geopolitical tensions between US and Iran saw the index gave up entire recent gains and formed an intra-week low of 23,805 on Wednesday’s session. Index witnessed a rebound in the last two session of the week to close around 24,200 levels down by 0.3%.
Broader market outperformed with the Nifty midcap and small cap 100 closed the week higher by 1.4% and 1.3% respectively. Nifty midcap index formed a fresh all time high during last week trade. Looking ahead, institutional flows are likely to remain sensitive to a range of global and domestic developments. On the global front, investors will closely monitor movements in crude oil prices and any progress in the ongoing US-Iran peace talks, as these could influence inflation expectations, energy costs, and overall market sentiment. Domestically, attention will shift to the progress of the monsoon season, given its impact on rural demand, agricultural output, and inflation trends. Additionally, the Q1FY27 corporate earnings season will be a key focus, offering important insights into the health of corporate India and the sustainability of earnings growth.
