Below the Quote on Pre-market comment for Monday Feb 23 by Aakash Shah, Research Analyst, Choice Broking
Indian equity markets are expected to open the February 23 session on a positive note, with GIFT Nifty trading around 25,764, up nearly 179 points, indicating a firm positive opening.
On February 20, 2026, the Nifty 50 rebounded strongly, gaining 116.90 points to close at 25,571 after the previous session’s decline. Buying interest emerged near the 25,400 level, reflecting solid dip demand. Despite intraday volatility, overall sentiment improved, with 25,400–25,450 now forming a near-term support zone and 25,700–25,750 acting as immediate resistance. This technical structure suggests stabilisation and a gradual recovery in market confidence after recent choppy price action, supported by sustained buying interest at lower levels and an improving short-term outlook.
The Bank Nifty also staged a strong rebound, rising 432 points to close at 61,172, outperforming the broader market after prior weakness. Buying support near 60,550 highlighted continued institutional interest in banking stocks. The index remains firmly above the psychological 61,000 mark, signalling underlying strength. Technically, the 60,800–60,900 range now stands as a crucial near-term support and demand zone, reinforcing stability despite recent volatility and strengthening the short-term structure.
On the flows front, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) continued their selling, offloading equities worth ?934 crore on February 20, while Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) provided strong support by purchasing equities worth ?2,637 crore.
Given persistent global uncertainties and elevated market volatility, traders are advised to remain disciplined and selective, focusing on fundamentally strong stocks during corrective phases. Fresh long positions should ideally be considered only after a sustained breakout of the Nifty above 26,000, which would signal a more reliable improvement in overall market sentiment and confirm a stronger bullish structure.
