Market Outlook: Indian markets are likely to open cautious, with Gift Nifty declining 0.27%, indicating a muted start following mixed global cues. US markets ended mixed, with S&P 500 remaining flat, Dow Jones declining 0.36%, while Nasdaq 100 gained 0.82%. Domestic indices witnessed selling pressure, with Nifty 50 declining 0.36% and Sensex falling 0.44%. Market breadth remained negative, with NSE recording 1,677 advances against 1,867 declines, while BSE witnessed 2,087 advances versus 2,279 declines. Options data indicates Nifty Call OI concentration at 23,400 and Put OI at 23,300, with PCR at 0.92, suggesting immediate resistance around 23,400 levels and support near 23,300.
FII & DII Activity: Institutional activity remained mixed during the session, with FIIs/FPI turning net sellers with outflows of Rs 3,810 crore, while DIIs continued their buying activity with net inflows of Rs 4,120.1 crore. Domestic institutional participation provided support amid foreign investor selling pressure.
Sector Activity: Sectoral performance remained weak, with most major indices ending in negative territory. Nifty IT declined 0.86%, Financial Services fell 0.42%, Pharma declined 0.41%, Consumer Durables dropped 0.64% and FMCG declined 0.53%. Metals (+0.14%) and PSE (+0.13%) were among the few sectors trading positively, while Energy, Auto and Oil & Gas remained under pressure.
F&O Activity: Derivative positioning indicated fresh long build-up in RBL Bank, Patanjali, PI Industries, BPCL and Lodha, reflecting buying interest in these counters. Short build-up was observed in Kaynes Technology, Ather Energy, IRFC, Britannia and Premier Energies. Long unwinding was seen in Oil India, Grasim, ICICI Lombard, Fortis Healthcare and Lupin, while short covering emerged in Solar Industries, Bandhan Bank, BSE, Wipro and Mankind Pharma.
