Market Outlook

The broader-based selling pressure remained intact in the Indian market, with the key benchmark Nifty50 index declining for the seventh consecutive week. The index retested the 23,000 zone and settled the week with a net decline of nearly one percent. The banking index also remained on the back foot, declining 1.38% and contributing significantly to the broader market correction during the last week. On the derivatives front, fresh call writing was witnessed at the 23,200 and 23,300 strikes, indicating an immediate resistance zone, while the 23,500 level remains a stiff hurdle due to significant call writing. On the downside, put writing remained concentrated around 23,000 strikes, making it an immediate support zone.
