Jeera prices fell nearly 3% last week, while spot rates at Unjha mandi declined 5.73% amid higher arrivals and weak demand. With fresh arrivals gathering pace, prices have begun to ease across key producing states. Weekly arrivals stood at 1.38 lakh bags during 11 to 18 feb from 1.11 lakh bags last week. Exports during Apr–Nov 2025 dropped 11% to 142,217 tonnes. Gujarat acreage declined 14% to 408,199 hectares, and lower sowing is expected ahead. Tariff reductions by India, placing 75% of agricultural exports to the US at zero duty, may improve export competitiveness against Vietnam, Indonesia, and Cambodia.

Major Highlights

• Jeera prices declined around 4% in past week, spot prices at Unjha mandi also dropped 5.73%.

• The new crop has started entering the markets and weak domestic and overseas demand.

• Weekly arrivals stood at 1.38 lakh bags (3–10 Feb 2026) and 1.11 lakh bags (11–18 Feb 2026).

• Total arrivals during 1–18 Feb 2026 reached 15,972.12 MT, higher than 11,628.69 MT in the same period last year.

• April–November 2025 exports were 142,217 tonnes, down 11% from 159,201 tonnes during the same corresponding period last year.

• Gujarat cumin acreage fell 14% to 408,199 hectares in 2025–26 from 476,537 hectares last year.

• Lower sowing for 2026–27 is expected as farmers shifted to better remunerations rabi crops.

• India’s tariff reduction on US goods is expected to boost spice exports, with 75% of agricultural exports to the US moving to zero tariff, improving competitiveness against Vietnam, Indonesia, and Cambodia.
