Asset monetisation proposals worth Rs 5,000 crore recommended in NLMC meet: Government

The government on Saturday said that monetisation proposals involving assets valued at over Rs 5,000 crore were recommended during the meeting of the Board of Directors of National Land Monetization Corporation Limited (NLMC).

The proposals cover surplus land and building assets identified for monetisation and represent a significant step towards advancing the Government’s objective of unlocking the value of underutilised and surplus assets, according to Finance Ministry.

NLMC is a wholly-owned government company under the administrative control of the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE), Ministry of Finance.

It has been established to undertake and facilitate the monetisation of surplus land and building assets of Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) and other Government entities.

“The recommendation by the Board of proposals involving assets worth over Rs 5,000 crore underscores the growing scale of NLMC’s engagement in the Government’s asset monetisation programme,” said the official statement.

By facilitating the productive use of surplus land and building assets, NLMC seeks to contribute to unlocking value from assets that may otherwise remain underutilised, while supporting asset-owning entities in pursuing transparent and commercially appropriate monetisation opportunities.

The Board reviewed the progress made by NLMC in facilitating the monetisation of surplus assets of Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) and other Government entities.

It was apprised of the pace and progress of asset monetisation undertaken by NLMC, including the initiatives being pursued across various asset-owning entities.

According to the statement, the discussions focused on expediting the monetisation process, addressing implementation-related requirements and ensuring that identified assets move forward through appropriate and transparent mechanisms.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to review NLMC’s ongoing initiatives aimed at strengthening its institutional and operational capabilities and creating a more structured framework for asset.

NLMC works with asset-owning entities to facilitate the identification, assessment and monetisation of surplus assets through appropriate and transparent mechanisms.
