Maruti Suzuki India falls on reporting marginal drop in February sales

Maruti Suzuki India is currently trading at Rs. 7210.00, down by 388.10 points or 5.11% from its previous closing of Rs. 7598.10 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 7480.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 7500.05 and Rs. 7128.85 respectively. So far 46072 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 5 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 9022.00 on 10-Feb-2022 and a 52 week low of Rs. 6400.00 on 03-May-2021.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 8335.40 and Rs. 7128.85 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 216390.52 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 56.37%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 38.89% and 4.74% respectively.

Maruti Suzuki India has reported a marginal drop in total wholesales at 1,64,056 units in February. The company had sold 1,64,469 units in February 2021. Last month, the company's domestic sales slipped 8.46 per cent to 1,40,035 units as against 1,52,983 units in February 2021.

The shortage of electronic components had a minor impact on the production of vehicles which are primarily sold in the domestic market. Sales of mini cars, comprising Alto and S-Presso, fell 17.81 per cent to 19,691 units as compared to 23,959 in the same month last year.

Similarly, sales in the compact segment, including models such as Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno and Dzire, slumped 3.38 per cent to 77,795 units as against 80,517 cars in February 2021. Sales of mid-sized sedan Ciaz increased to 1,912 units as compared to 1,510 units in February 2021. Utility vehicle sales, including Vitara Brezza, S-Cross and Ertiga, declined to 25,360 units as compared to 26,884 vehicles in the year-ago month. Exports jumped over two-fold to 24,021 units as against 11,486 units in the corresponding month last year.
