Donald Trump's US Presidential Election Win and Its Effect on the EB-5

2024's US presidential election has had more twists and turns than your average rollercoaster ride. Americans are waking up disoriented from the experience. But what about Indian HNWIs, core supporters of the EB-5 Investor Visa?

“While the campaign has sent my jaw descending to the floor at times, we're expecting business as usual regarding the EB-5” “In the immediate future, the minimum $800,000 threshold is not going to increase. Neither will the benefits of a green card and then US citizenship after 5 years disappear.” “The EB-5 is here to stay and the result of the US presidential election changes nothing, meaning that the value it offers Indian investors continues to shine.”

Donald Trump has campaigned on an anti-immigration platform against the Biden-Harris administration. That might have swung him the election, particularly in the swing states. But, as we shouldn't have to remind you, politicians do not always deliver on their promises. We don’t foresee Trump's stance on the EB-5 visa being any different than when he was last POTUS from 2017 to 2021. Back then he was the 45th President of the United States and we don't predict a shift during his stint as the 47th. For all his hot air, Trump does not always follow through on policy.

Even when Trump temporarily suspended immigration into the US, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) carried on handing out EB-5 Visas. The US still needs foreign direct investment, as it has continued to do since this Employment-Based Fifth Preference Visa was launched in 1990. Trump's successor and predecessor Joe Biden also extended the program until 2027, ensuring this investment migration's status as a secure and stable solution.
