* U.S. Senate passes Trump’s tax-spending bill, slashing welfare and adding $3.3T to debt: The U.S. Senate narrowly passed President Trump’s sweeping tax and spending bill, aiming for final House approval by July 4. The legislation extends 2017 tax cuts, boosts military and immigration enforcement spending, and slashes nearly $930 billion from Medicaid and food aid, while adding $3.3 trillion to the national debt. Despite internal Republican divisions, it passed 51-50 with Vice President JD Vance breaking the tie. The bill faces stiff resistance in the House over its cost, Medicaid cuts, and lack of tax relief for high-tax states. Critics warn it could leave 12 million more uninsured and deepen inequality.
