RBI promotes Gunveer Singh as Executive Director

 The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Monday promoted Gunveer Singh as Executive Director, according to an official statement issued by the central bank. 

Prior to his elevation, Singh was serving as Chief General Manager-in-Charge of the Department of Payment and Settlement Systems at the RBI.

His appointment as Executive Director has come into effect from Monday.

In his new role, Singh will oversee the Department of Payment and Settlement Systems, the central bank said.

“The RBI has appointed Gunveer Singh as Executive Director (ED) with effect from May 18, 2026,” the central bank said.

“Prior to his promotion as ED, Singh was serving as Chief General Manager-in-Charge of the Department of Payment and Settlement Systems of the Bank,” it added.

Singh brings over three decades of experience at the RBI, having worked across several areas including payment and settlement systems, banking and non-banking supervision, risk monitoring and government banking.

“Singh has an experience of over three decades in the Reserve Bank having worked in the areas of payment and settlement systems, banking and non-banking supervision, risk monitoring, Government banking and other areas in the Reserve Bank,” the central bank mentioned.

He has also served as a payment systems expert at the Central Bank of Oman.

According to the RBI, Singh is a Chartered Accountant as well as a Cost and Works Accountant.

“He has also served as a payment systems expert at the Central Bank of Oman. As Executive Director, Singh will look after the Department of Payment and Settlement Systems,” the central bank stated.

“Singh is a Chartered Accountant and a Cost and Works Accountant,” RBI said in an official statement.
