RBI's concessional swap facility sees $20.72 billion forex inflows till July 17

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has said that its concessional swap facility, introduced to encourage foreign currency inflows, has attracted $20.72 billion as of July 17, 2026. The facility has witnessed strong investor interest and steady forex inflows since becoming operational on June 8, 2026, with Foreign Currency Non-Resident (Bank) [FCNR(B)] deposits accounting for the largest share.

Of the total inflows, FCNR(B) deposits accounted for $17.406 billion, followed by Overseas Foreign Currency Borrowings (OFCBs) at $1.97 billion and External Commercial Borrowings (ECBs) at $1.342 billion.

The RBI had introduced concessional swap facility on June 5, 2026, as part of a host of measures to strengthen India’s balance of payments, incentivise capital inflows and supporting foreign exchange liquidity amid global market uncertainties. The facility offers concessional swaps for fresh FCNR(B) deposits, OFCBs, and ECB inflows. Operational since June 8, 2026, the swap window for FCNR(B) deposits will remain open until September 30, 2026, while the facility for OFCBs and ECBs will continue until December 31, 2026.
