Overseas investments by Indian firms dip 48% in June 2026: RBI data

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in its latest report has showed that India's outward foreign direct investment (OFDI) commitments declined by 47.92% to $2,990.73 million in June 2026 as against $5,742.22 million in June 2025, with decline in equity, loan and guarantee commitments.

In May 2026, OFDI commitments stood at $4,512.02 million. According to the report, equity commitments slipped 66.44% to $738.32 million in June 2026, from $2,199.99 million in June 2025. They were also 41.10% lower than $1,253.53 million equity commitments recorded in May 2026.

The report further noted that loan commitments stood at $469.87 million in June 2026, 17.35% down from $568.54 million in June 2025. Besides, guarantees issued also decreased sharply by 40.06% to $1,782.54 million in June 2026 from $2,973.70 million in June 2025.
