Wheat sowing stands at 36% of the average area, while potato has achieved 87% of its target. However, spices like cumin and fennel lag, with coverage at 55% and 25% of their respective averages. Weather-related delays and reduced cultivation have created concerns about potential price spikes in these commodities.
An extended monsoon, prolonged rainfall until October, and high temperatures delayed rabi sowing significantly. State advisories recommended farmers wait for cooler temperatures, affecting sowing schedules.
