Global equity markets were mixed this week, while the Indian equity markets witnessed some increase. BSE Sensex, Nifty 50 and BSE Midcap indices saw weekly gains between 1-2%. However, the smallcap index ended the weak on a flat note. Indian markets were hopeful of a steady Q2FY26, especially in the IT services sector, while pricing in quarterly business updates across sectors. BSE IT index outperformed the other sectoral indices ahead of the Q2FY26 results.  TCS reported better-than-expected c/c revenue growth and the outlook for H2FY26 is optimistic, aided by healthy deal signings. Real estate index also ended the week on a positive note, driven by Q2FY26 quarter update from various real estate companies.

BSE FMCG, Auto and Metal saw flattish to negative returns this week. Global markets performance was influenced by continued US government shutdown, political volatility in select developed markets, continued rally in commodity prices and a rise in dollar index. Over the next few weeks, we can expect stock specific reaction as the focus will be on Q2FY26 results outcome and management commentary.
