People buying Rakhis from Muslims creating an atmosphere of communal harmony in Ahmedabad
Festive fervour grips Gujarat’s Ahmedabad as Raksha Bandhan nears. Hindu traders and people from all over Gujarat throng Millat Nagar to buy Rakhis from Muslim families creating an atmosphere of communal harmony. A customer Monica Shah said, "We get different varieties here. We get good quality Rakhis here that are not available anywhere else...Despite being Muslims, they work for our festival and make our festival good. They work to make us happy." Businessman Mohammed Imran said, "The work to prepare Rakhi has been going on here (Millat Nagar) for many years. It is made for all 12 months. Our wholesale work starts 4 months before the festival of Raksha Bandhan... In Millat Nagar, we are experts in making Rakhis."
