Marco Rubio says US will block Ebola entry as DRC outbreak rises; CDC tightens travel rules
The United States says it must prevent Ebola cases from entering the country amid an outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo that has caused about 220 suspected deaths and 900 cases, with Marco Rubio saying at a cabinet meeting with Donald Trump that the US “will not allow” infections to spread domestically. He said the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the United States Department of Health and Human Services, and other agencies are working to contain the outbreak abroad, while the CDC has imposed 30-day travel restrictions and airport screening for travellers from the DRC, Uganda, and South Sudan.
