Indian shares open largely flat, analysts expect further consolidation
India's equity benchmarks opened little changed on Wednesday, following modest gains in the previous session that were led by IT stocks after the Infosys-Anthropic deal.
The Nifty 50 rose 0.11% to 25,752.65 and the BSE Sensex added 0.12% to 83,553.59, as of 9:15 a.m. IST.
Fifteen of the 16 major sectors opened higher, but the gains were marginal. The broader small-caps and mid-caps rose about 0.2% each.
Analysts expect further consolidation in the benchmarks in the absence of key triggers.
On Tuesday, the Nifty and Sensex rose about 0.2% each, with the IT index up 1% as investors welcomed the potential for AI-led deal momentum after Infosys announced a partnership with Anthropic.
