Indian Railways announces mega reforms for Freight, Construction and Logistics Sectors

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw unveiled a series of major structural reforms aimed at transforming Indian Railways' freight, logistics, construction, and infrastructure sectors. The reforms include container-based transportation of fly ash and fertilizers, a unified container licensing system, skill certification for railway construction workers, stricter contractor qualification norms, the launch of the Rail Bhoomi land acquisition portal, and greater flexibility for industry-designed railway wagons. The reforms are part of Indian Railways' broader target of implementing 52 reforms to improve efficiency, reduce logistics costs, boost freight movement, and support India's infrastructure growth.
