``Entire machine line-up ready``: JCB CEO Deepak Shetty eyes bigger export numbers after India-NZ FTA

Come on man. Brother.

You were coming.

Wow man

Should I drive the car? Sir, roll down the window once too.

Let's go.

We'll take a photo from a little further back.

Oh, here he is.

So first of all, I want to thank our honorable Finance and Commerce Minister for signing an agreement with New Zealand. And this isn't just one agreement; our government is working on 25 of them. JCB has always focused on exports. This is the 140th country we're exporting machines to.

Last year we exported around 15,000 machines, and this year we'll export around 18,000. So we've always focused on making machines not just for the Indian market, but for markets all over the world. New Zealand is an advanced economy. The per capita income is around 48,000, so a lot of machines are used in that market. Not just for construction, but also in agriculture and material handling. So we've got our full lineup of machines ready. This is our first

As they say, he is our representative, and when he goes to New Zealand, if the customers there see the benefits, more machines will be exported down the line.

So a minister once said something about 50 percent, and we need to increase that. What context was he speaking in, and what are you planning to do?

The minister always challenges us, and I'm really glad he challenges the industry, and the industry steps up and works according to his challenges. I still remember during COVID, he asked me once how many countries we export to. So I gave a number around 70 or 75. He said I'd have to meet him when it reaches 100. So it's a great thing that he constantly challenges the industries.

I was telling him that we export 25% of the machines we make in India. So he gave the challenge that we should export 50% going forward. It's a very good challenge, and we'll see how we can expand further.

Sir, New Zealand is done. We're also in the final stages of talking to the US. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said they are discussing a bilateral agreement and are in the last stage. How do you view it being in that stage?

This is very positive, and I'm confident that a win-win agreement will be signed between the two countries going forward, creating many opportunities on both sides. Machines will go from India there, and from there back here. And when we were talking to the honorable minister, we were saying that you should make it zero duty. The Indian industry is ready to go and sell in America; we are already selling there, and we will sell even more machines after the trade agreement.

Look sir, we are answering.
