Garden Reach Shipbuilders shines on launching electric ferry for West Bengal government

Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers is currently trading at Rs. 901.00, up by 24.60 points or 2.81% from its previous closing of Rs. 876.40 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 877.95 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 909.00 and Rs. 870.45 respectively. So far 58086 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 973.95 on 08-Sep-2023 and a 52 week low of Rs. 398.75 on 16-Mar-2023.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 916.40 and Rs. 855.45 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 10274.17 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 74.51%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 8.90% and 16.60% respectively.

Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) has launched a next-generation electric ferry with a 150-passenger capacity for the West Bengal government. Holding the prospect of replacing diesel-engine run ferries with green platforms that use only battery and solar power, the launch of the electric ferry, christened 'Dheu' (wave) signals opportunities in zero-emission water transport.

It will have twin screw propellers for greater manoeuvrability and a catamaran aluminium hull which will allow speed up to 10 knots. The vessel will undergo harbour and afloat trials before being delivered to the West Bengal government.
