DRDO`s lighter, stronger, bulletproof jacket ready to safeguard Indian Armed Forces from top threats
The DRDO developed the lightest bulletproof jacket for protection against the highest threat level 6. Defence Materials, Stores Research and Development Establishment, Kanpur has developed the lightest Bullet Proof Jacket. Bulletproof jackets will protect against 7.62 x 54 R API (Level 6 of BIS 17051) ammunition. The bulletproof jacket was successfully tested at Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory (TBRL), Chandigarh. The front Hard Armour Panel of the jacket defeats multiple hits (06 shots) of 7.62 x 54 R API (Sniper rounds). The ergonomically designed front HAP is made up of a monolithic ceramic plate with polymer backing. Secretary Department of Defence R&D and Chairman DRDO has congratulated DMSRDE for the successful development.
