Market Outlook: Indian equities witnessed a weak session, with the Sensex declining 0.24% to 77,473 and the Nifty 50 falling 0.52% to 24,208 as afternoon selling erased early gains. However, Bank Nifty gained 0.5% to 57,784 and India VIX declined 4.4%, indicating that volatility remained contained despite the benchmark weakness. Nifty options data shows major OI concentration at 24,500 Calls and 24,200 Puts, with a PCR of 0.86, suggesting a narrow range with resistance near 24,500 and immediate support around 24,200.

FII & DII Activity: Institutional flows remained positive on 26th August, with FIIs/FPIs recording net purchases of Rs 503 crore after buying Rs 17,520.5 crore worth of equities against sales of Rs 17,017.9 crore. DIIs provided significantly stronger support, recording net buying of Rs 6,425 crore. On the downside, IT declined 1.5%, while FMCG and Consumer indices fell 1.0% each, reflecting continued selling in technology and consumption-oriented stocks. Energy and Oil & Gas also declined 0.6%, while Pharma remained marginally positive at 0.2%.

F&O Activity: Long build-up was seen in BANKNIFTY, FINNIFTY, SAIL, LIC Housing Finance and Vedanta, indicating fresh buying interest. Short build-up was observed in NIFTY, Premier Energies, NIFTYFPI, Varun Beverages and ICICI General Insurance. Long unwinding emerged in Adani Energy Solutions, Godrej Consumer, Vodafone Idea, Coforge and AU Small Finance Bank, while short covering was visible in Paytm, Motilal Oswal Financial Services, L&T Finance, Nykaa and Adani Enterprises.
