Daily Market Update - 1st September 2026 by Ventura Securities Ltd
Market Outlook: Indian markets witnessed a weak session, with the Nifty 50 declining 0.4% and closing at 24,080. Market breadth remained negative, with NSE recording 1,340 advances against 2,202 declines and BSE witnessing 1,785 advances versus 2,625 declines, indicating selling pressure across the broader market. Midcap indices outperformed marginally, with Nifty Midcap 50 gaining 0.47%, led by AUROPHARMA (+4.36%), NYKAA (+4.14%) and PAYTM (+4.01%). Global cues remained mixed, with US markets ending lower as S&P 500 declined 0.33%, Dow Jones fell 0.70%, while Nasdaq 100 gained 0.08%. Gift Nifty declined 0.22%, indicating a flat-to-negative opening for Indian markets.
FII & DII Activity: Institutional activity remained mixed, with FIIs/FPI turning net sellers with an outflow of Rs 7,985.9 crore, while DIIs continued their buying support with net inflows of Rs 4,588.9 crore. Domestic institutional buying partially cushioned foreign investor selling pressure during the session.
Sector Activity: Sectoral performance remained mixed, with Private Banks (+1.0%), Healthcare (+0.9%), Pharma (+0.7%), PSU Banks (+0.1%) and Manufacturing (+0.1%) witnessing gains. On the other hand, Metals declined 2.5%, FMCG fell 1.7%, Construction declined 0.9% and Consumer Durables and IT corrected 0.3% each.
F&O Activity: Long build-up was witnessed in ATHERENERG, SAGILITY, NAM-INDIA, SBICARD and AUROPHARMA, indicating fresh buying interest. Short build-up was observed in ETERNAL, ADANIENSOL, LAURUSLABS, ADANIENT and PERSISTENT. Long unwinding was seen in 360ONE, MIDCPNIFTY, NIFTYNXT50, FORTIS and PAGEIND, whereas short covering emerged in POLYCAB, CAMS, SUPREMEIND, SONACOMS and BLUESTARCO.
