Daily Market Update - 16th September 2026 - Ventura Securities Ltd
Market Outlook: Indian markets are expected to open flat, with Gift Nifty declining 5 points (-0.02%) after weak global cues. US markets ended lower, with the S&P 500 declining 34.3 points (-0.45%), Dow Jones falling 328.6 points (-0.63%) and Nasdaq 100 declining 189.3 points (-0.65%). Domestic equities witnessed broad-based selling in the previous session, with Nifty 50 declining 279.5 points (-1.19%) to 23,118.6, while NSE breadth remained weak with 754 advances against 2,824 declines and BSE recorded 1,109 advances versus 3,381 declines. Bank Nifty Call and Put OI were concentrated at 57,500, with PCR at 1.56.
FII & DII Activity: Foreign institutional selling continued, with FIIs/FPI turning net sellers of Rs 2,977.9 crore on 15th September, while DIIs remained supportive with net buying of Rs 2,686.1 crore. September-to-date FII selling stands at Rs 2,399.1 crore, whereas DII buying has reached Rs 27,673 crore, highlighting continued dependence on domestic institutional liquidity amid foreign outflows.
Sector Activity: Sectoral performance remained weak, with broad-based declines across major indices. Nifty IT was the only major sector to outperform, gaining 2.19%, supported by dollar-linked earnings expectations. Metal declined 2.54%, Consumer Durables fell 2.41%, Manufacturing declined 2.40%, Auto declined 2.01%, Energy declined 2.08%, and Financial Services declined 1.83%.
F&O Activity: Long build-up was witnessed in Sagility, Mphasis, Alkem Laboratories, Naukri and Tata Steel, indicating fresh buying interest. Short build-up was observed in Solar Industries, Bharat Dynamics, Waaree Energies, Siemens and Hyundai. Long unwinding was seen in Paytm, Angel One, Persistent Systems, Adani Ports and Adani Enterprises, whereas short covering emerged in Dabur, Kalyan Jewellers, Infosys, KPIT Technologies and Tata Elxsi.

1. Aurobindo Pharma: Received final USFDA approval for Beclomethasone Dipropionate HFA inhalers in 40 mcg and 80 mcg strengths, generic versions of Teva’s QVAR inhaler. The addressable US market was approximately US$301 million for the 12 months ended July 2026.

Uno Minda: Approved Rs 1,415 crore investment across four automotive-component projects, including a Rs 510 crore Hosur casting facility, Rs 155 crore Kharkhoda alloy wheel project, Rs 80 crore Bengaluru expansion and Rs 670 crore Maharashtra automotive products facility. Hosur casting capacity is expected to increase from approximately 13,000 MT to 30,000 MT at peak.
3. Saatvik Green Energy: Received a Rs 1,041.63 crore domestic order from Solar Energy Corporation of India for supply of solar photovoltaic modules, with execution expected by December 2027.
4. Titagarh Rail Systems: Signed a 50:50 JV agreement with BHEL for maintenance of 80 Vande Bharat sleeper trainsets for 35 years. The programme forms part of Indian Railways’ previously awarded Rs 24,000 crore manufacturing and maintenance contract.
5. Diamond Power Infrastructure: Received a Rs 179.43 crore GST-inclusive letter of award from Adani Electricity Mumbai for approximately 871 km of underground power cables, including specialised 33 kV and 11 kV TR-XLPE medium-voltage cables and associated low-voltage cables.
