Avio Smart Market Stack has signed a MoU with the Government of Tripura to establish a state-of-the-art freeze-drying facility for fresh fruits and vegetables, marking a significant step towards strengthening agro-processing infrastructure and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities in the Northeast.
As part of the agreement, the company will develop the project titled ‘A Freeze-Drying Initiative on Fruits and Vegetables for Tripura’. The proposed facility is expected to generate direct employment for around 500 people and indirect employment for another 800, while creating a robust value chain for the state's horticulture sector by enhancing the shelf life, quality, and marketability of locally grown produce.
The initiative aims to address post-harvest losses through advanced freeze-drying technology, enabling farmers to preserve produce for longer periods while unlocking greater value addition. By improving access to premium domestic and international markets, the project is expected to enhance farmer incomes, reduce food waste and contribute to the long-term growth of Tripura's agricultural economy.
