Kalyan Jewellers gained about 2.5% today, making it a top mid-cap gainer while the broader market stayed under pressure. The move looks driven by improving Street sentiment, not fresh company news, and is backed by strong Q1 FY27 fundamentals. Consolidated revenue (ex-bullion) rose 38% year on year to about Rs10,008 crore, EBITDA rose to about ?633 crore from Rs 508 crore, and PAT rose 32% to Rs 349 crore. India revenue grew to about Rs 8,503 crore from Rs 6,142 crore, with same-store sales growth of about 28%. Middle East revenue rose to about Rs 1,320 crore from Rs 1,026 crore. The company added 12 showrooms in the quarter and Candere revenue more than doubled to Rs 141 crore, turning profitable. Management retained its FY27 target of 84 Kalyan and 50 Candere showrooms, with H2 expected to be heavier than H1. The key risk is margin compression, with EBITDA margin at about 6.3% versus about 7.0% a year earlier, as recycled gold rose above 46% of sales and standalone employee cost rose about 54%. Gold price and rupee volatility also remain risks.
