NIFTY
* Nifty edged higher after 3 days of breather and gained nearly half a percent.
* Most sectors ended in the green wherein FMCG, PSU Bank and Realty were among the top gainers.
* Broad-based participation combined with favorable global cues would help in keeping the tone positive.
* Recommend focusing on stock selection and trade management.
BANK NIFTY
* Banking index traded in sync with the benchmark and settled with modest gains.
* Barring HDFCBANK, Most constituents ended in the green. Axis Bank, Kotak Bank and SBI were among the top gainers.
* Performance of the banking pack would play a critical role in setting the market tone ahead.
* Reiterate our preference for private banks and suggest maintaining selective approach in the PSU pack.
