`50 billion dollars in trade` EAM Jaishankar highlights growing India-Russia ties as he meets President Putin

External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on December 27. During the meeting, S Jaishankar highlighted the growing India-Russia ties. He also conveyed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s greetings to Russian Prez Putin. 
Jaishankar said, “First of all, please allow me to convey the personal greetings of Prime Minister Modi...I would also, extensive like to take the opportunity to share with you, aspects of the progress that we have made and in the last two days, had a chance to discuss with the Russian Deputy Prime Minister and Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov and today with FM Sergey Lavrov of Russia...I would like to highlight the progress we have made in trade, which is, in excess of a turnover of 50 billion dollars, and we believe that this is something, whose potential is now only beginning to be visible. It is, important we give it a more sustainable character, and we discussed how we should do that. The second aspect pertains to the nuclear side and, we have, yesterday signed agreements, which would, take the Kudankulam project forward.”
Earlier in the day, Jaishankar also met Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov and held discussions on a wide range of global issues Indo-Pacific, Ukraine conflict as well as Gaza. Notably, Jaishankar is on a four-day visit to Russia from December 25-29.
