While addressing an annual conclave on Shaping India's Urban Agenda-2023 in Delhi, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on October 17 said that the urban space had been subjected to neglect. He further said that the neglect has been criminal in many respects.
Hardeep Singh Puri said, “Prime Minister was very clear that urbanization presented an opportunity because of the many challenges. I think he was acutely conscious of the fact that the urban space had been subjected to neglect. He doesn't talk about that much. I am much harsher in my characterization and I think the neglect has been criminal in many respects. But we tried to make up in terms of what we have done in terms of the urban, what you call the central schemes.”
