Rupee weakens marginally against US dollar on Tuesday
Indian rupee weakened marginally against the US dollar on Tuesday with caution ahead of key inflation readings from the US and other major economies this week for more signals about interest rate policy. Moreover, a recovery in crude oil prices and foreign fund outflows have also weighed on rupee sentiments. Foreign Institutional Investors were net sellers in the capital markets on Monday, as they offloaded shares worth Rs 541.22 crore, exchange data showed. However, firm domestic equities and weakness of the American currency have limited further falls in rupee.
The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 83.15, weaker by 2 paise from its previous close of 83.13 on Monday. The currency touched a high and low of 83.17 and 83.1025 respectively.
