Rupee strengthens against US dollar in early trade on Thursday
The Indian rupee strengthened against the US dollar in early trade on Thursday, supported by easing Brent crude prices following reports that Saudi Arabia offering extra crude cargoes through Oman reduced fears of supply disruptions in the Middle East. Meanwhile, suspected RBI intervention also adding support to rupee sentiments. However, Federal Reserve’s hawkish rate hike and projections of another increase before year-end added strength to the American currency and limited further gains in the domestic unit. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) offloaded equities worth Rs 2,032.61 crore on a net basis on Wednesday, exchange data showed.
