Rupee weakens against US dollar on Friday

The Indian rupee weakened against the US dollar on Friday tracking weak domestic equities and persistent foreign fund outflows from the capital market. Foreign institutional investors sold equities worth Rs 3,694.31 crore on a net basis on Thursday, exchange data showed. Moreover, uncertainty surrounding ongoing India-US trade negotiations also dampened rupee sentiments. However, weaker American currency and a marginal drop in global crude oil prices have capped further falls in rupee.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 86.20, weaker by 8 paise from its previous close of 86.12 on Thursday. The currency touched a high and low of 86.23 and 85.9750 respectively.
