Rupee strengthens against US dollar on Friday

The Indian rupee strengthened against the US dollar on Friday, tracking firm domestic equities and renewed foreign fund inflows. Foreign institutional investors bought equities worth Rs 934.62 crore on a net basis on Thursday, exchange data showed. Moreover, a decline in global crude oil prices and a weakening American currency also supported rupee sentiments. Even though cautiousness over the escalating Israel-Iran war limited further gains in rupee.
The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 86.65, stronger by 8 paise from its previous close of 86.73 on Thursday. The currency touched a high and low of 86.67 and 86.55 respectively.
