Indian equities ended a volatile Thursday session almost unchanged as investors monitored developments around a potential India-U.S. trade agreement that could ease tariff tensions. The Sensex closed at 84,478.67, up 12.16 points (0.01%), while the Nifty 50 settled flat at 25,879.15.
Metal and realty stocks advanced, while financial and IT counters dragged. Among Nifty gainers were Asian Paints, ICICI Bank, L&T, Interglobe Aviation, and Hindalco, whereas Eternal, Shriram Finance, Adani Ports, Bharat Electronics, and M&M slipped. Broader indices underperformed, with the BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices down 0.3% each.
Investor sentiment remained supported by easing inflation October CPI fell to 0.25%, raising hopes of an RBI rate cut next month and optimism around policy continuity. The rupee weakened slightly, closing 6 paise lower at 88.68 against the US dollar.
