Benchmark indices corrected sharply. Nifty closed 167 points lower, while Sensex was down 522 points. Sectorally, almost all major sectoral indices witnessed intraday profit booking at higher levels, but the Realty index fell the most, losing 1.50%.

Technically, after a gap-down open, the market witnessed selling pressure at higher levels throughout the day. On the daily charts, this has formed a bearish candle, indicating further weakness from current levels.

We believe that, although the intraday market structure is weak, new selling is possible only after a close above 25,800/84300. Below this level, the market could retest the 25,700–25,650/84000–83800 levels. On the other hand, 25,950/84800 would be an immediate resistance zone for day traders. If it manages to trade above this level, it could retrace towards 26,050–26,150/85200–85500.

It is advisable to buy between 25800 and 25750; however, protect long positions with a final stop loss at 25650.
