"Indian equities ended Tuesday on a weak note as benchmark indices stayed under pressure amid global uncertainty, persistent profit-booking, and lack of meaningful domestic triggers. The Sensex declined sharply, while the Nifty 50 slipped to close near 25,840 — a decisive close below the 26,000 mark that reinforced the loss of upward momentum after multiple failed attempts to sustain higher levels.

Sectoral performance reflected broad-based weakness, with IT, autos, metals, and financials witnessing notable declines. Intraday recoveries were short-lived as selling pressure re-emerged on every rise, highlighting the lack of conviction among market participants. Only a handful of defensive stocks managed to hold ground, but their support was insufficient to counterbalance the broader downtrend.

Interestingly, despite weakness in large-cap indices, the broader market displayed resilience. The Nifty Midcap index gained around 0.32%, while the Nifty Smallcap index advanced roughly 1.14%. This divergence indicates selective buying interest in the broader market even as frontline indices remained under stress. It also reflects pockets of optimism, suggesting that investors are selectively positioning in growth-oriented or value-focused opportunities, even amid a cautious environment.

On the volatility front, India VIX remained relatively contained, signalling that despite the decline in headline indices, the market is still navigating within a consolidation zone rather than entering a high-volatility corrective phase.

Technically, Nifty holds immediate support at 25,650–25,700, while strong resistance persists at 25,950–26,000, a zone where supply has consistently capped upside. For Bank Nifty, immediate support lies around 58,900–59,000, with resistance placed near 59,500–59,600.

Overall, the tone remains cautious to mildly bearish. However, selective strength in the broader market suggests opportunities may emerge if key support levels hold and buying interest sustains."
