Numaligarh refinery expansion to be fully commissioned by early 2027: Oil India Chairman Ranjit Rath

The 1,635-1,640-km Paradip-Numaligarh crude oil pipeline is likely to be commissioned by October-November this year, while the expanded Numaligarh Refinery, whose capacity is being increased from 3 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) to 9 MTPA, is expected to be commissioned in early 2027, Ranjit Rath, Chairman and Managing Director, Oil India Ltd, told ANI.
“Under the Numaligarh refinery expansion project, we are taking the refinery's capacity from 3 million tonnes to 9 million tonnes. The pre-commissioning activity is already underway. We took the crude in on December 31st, 2025, and the mother units are currently under pre-commissioning. We will commission it soon; the preparations for additional allies to commission are also in place. We foresee that the entire refinery will be commissioned by early 2027. As part of this refinery expansion plan, we are also commissioning a pipeline of 1,635 to 1,640 kilometres traversing from Paradip to Numaligarh, which is likely to be commissioned by October or November this year. That would actually serve as the feedstock carrier from the offshore oil terminals…” said Dr Ranjit Rath.
