nfosys’ Nandan Nilekani praises Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s AI vision, boosting innovation for farmers, students
At the CEOs Forum, Infosys co founder Nandan Nilekani praised PM Modi for a “fantastic Summit” and highlighted India’s rapid AI adoption, sharing how a conversation on January 8 about applying AI to farmers led the PM to suggest extending it to cattle, since sick cows cannot communicate their condition. Within three weeks, a collaboration between PMO, MeitY officials, Amul, and Nilekani’s team launched an AI application for the world’s largest cooperative, covering 3.6 million farmers, 40 million cattle, and 2 billion milk transactions annually—demonstrating India’s speed of execution in AI diffusion. Nilekani compared this to the launch of the BHIM UPI payment system in 2016, which grew to 21 billion monthly transactions with 500 million users, and expressed optimism that under PM Modi’s vision, AI will similarly transform the lives of farmers, students, patients, and workers, positioning India as a global leader in AI application.
