New Year gift to West Bengal; Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw flags off Balurghat-Sealdah Express train

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on January 01 flagged off the Balurghat-Sealdah Express train, which will connect the South Dinajpur district of West Bengal with state capital Kolkata through video conferencing. The regular service of the train will commence from Sealdah on January 02, and from Balurghat on January 03.
Talking about the development of railways in West Bengal, Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said, “PM Narendra Modi has made a lot of efforts for the development of railways in West Bengal. After becoming PM in 2014, the PM has significantly increased the fund allocation for railways development in West Bengal... I have written many times to CM Mamata Banerjee to cooperate as the railways wants to invest Rs 50,000 crore in West Bengal but we need support from the state government for this. Work is underway to make 98 stations world-class and for this, the support of state government support is required. In the last 9.5 years, more work has been done for the Kolkata Metro than was done in the last 40 years...”
