• Crude rises 0.5% on renewed US-Iran tensions and supply disruption fears: Oil prices rose 0.5% in early Asian trade, with Brent crude futures gaining 48 cents to $105.25/bbl and US WTI rising 47 cents to $96.93/bbl, following reports of US strikes on Iran’s Qeshm Island, raising concerns over a renewed escalation in the eight-month conflict and prolonged disruptions to Middle East oil supplies. The strikes reportedly aimed to prevent Iran from targeting commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, which previously handled nearly 20% of global crude oil and natural gas supplies. Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts between Washington and Tehran continue through Qatari mediation, with both sides indicating the possibility of a negotiated settlement, although no breakthrough has been achieved.

The health of the tech sector will remain in focus with earnings out from Apple and Qualcomm ahead. It is a busy week ahead for employment market data, with JOLTS job openings for September on Tuesday, ADP employment figures on Wednesday, productivity and jobless claims on Thursday and October nonfarm payrolls on Friday.
